At Balfe’s Bikes, we are all about the people. We also like enthusiasm, passion and energy which all help to make Balfe’s a great place to work. And if you are into your bikes, you get to talk about them all day.
Our Support Team are at the forefront of helping, guiding and advising our customers. Operating across several channels makes it easier for customers to contact us through a medium that is best for them. Their aim is to resolve customer queries, answer questions and generally help them on their way.
What does it take to succeed in the Support Team?
Due to the broad nature of the role, you should be confident in your approach and abilities. Being able to communicate to a diverse audience means you will need to be a multi-tasker and flexible. All our customers are important to us and as a business, we need to ensure that they are looked after but so are the company objectives. The two are mutually beneficial.
What does a day in the Support Team look like?
Customers can contact us via phone, email, web chat or social media. Besides dealing with these enquiries efficiently and with clarity, you will need to do so quickly and with minimal fuss. They could overlap so you could be using two channels simultaneously. The contact could be a customer checking their delivery date, a question or advice regarding a Cycle to Work voucher or one of the assorted options available. A customer may be unsure as to what size or type of bike they need. A parcel has gone missing, the list is not endless but there is plenty of variety. You will not get bored.
What attributes are they looking for in a teammate?
It goes without saying that a team player is top of the list. Any team is only as good as the colleagues that comprise it. Positivity and friendliness are essential as days can be busy and with little respite. With this in mind, calmness under pressure will come in handy. But it will not end with ticking those boxes, as technology changes within the industry a need to keep up to date with the changing landscape will be a key task. If you are not into your bikes, we can build your knowledge and take you on that journey to bike expert.
This willingness to continually improve will cover other areas and responding to changing customer demands and requests will be a constant theme. You do not see problems, but solutions and responsibility do not faze you.
Why should people apply?
Where do you start? A relaxed working environment is where. If you are in the right frame of mind your day goes better and our customers receive better service. Once your training is complete, there is the option of flexible working.
If you are into your riding, then we offer terrific staff discounts for you and your family. Cyclescheme allows you to purchase one bike a year whilst making significant savings on tax and NI. If you fancy riding into the office, you will find secure bike storage, showers and changing rooms. And then you get the opportunity to take all things bike related, all day.
So, in a nutshell, if you see yourself as a customer champion, like a challenge and want to be part of a dynamic business, we can offer you a chance to join a talented team.
