We are part of The Electric Bike Alliance – this is a collective of organisations, charities and businesses working together to combat misinformation and promote the safe use of electric bikes in the UK.

The Electric Bike Alliance’s aim is to champion e-bikes as a safe, convenient and healthy way to travel.

The Electric Bike Alliance intend to educate the British public about the risks of buying and using aftermarket lithium-ion batteries, chargers, and conversion kits.

And we passionately believe that armed with the right information to make better-informed, safer purchasing decisions, those who wish to ride an e-bike can buy with confidence and experience the many lifestyle benefits of riding legitimate, quality e-bikes.

Core members of the Electric Bike Alliance include:

  • Cycling UK – Cycling UK is the UK’s cycling charity. By providing skills, motivation, advice, and support, it works to enable everyone to live happier, healthier and greener lives through cycling.
  • The Bicycle Association – the national trade association for the UK cycle industry, whose membership includes major UK cycle and e-bike manufacturers, distributors, and retailers.
  • The Association of Cycle Traders – the largest cycle trade membership organisation in the UK which has been promoting cycling for over 100 years. The ACT represents the interests of circa 4,000 businesses involved in the UK cycle industry.
  • Bosch eBike Systems – Bosch eBike Systems is shaping the future of eBike mobility with innovative products and digital services ranging from highly efficient drive systems and the first series-ready ABS for eBikes to connected biking solutions. Today, more than 100 of the world’s leading bicycle brands trust in the perfectly coordinated, modular product portfolio. As an independent business unit within the Bosch Group, Bosch eBike Systems also uses the group’s technology and manufacturing know-how.

As an e-bike positive retailer, we along with other bike shops and mechanics have committed to the following best practice:

  • To sell only road legal e-bikes which are safety-tested and from trusted suppliers, and which come with full safety information and user instructions.
  • To repair only road legal e-bikes.
  • To repair or modify e-bikes only in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • To ensure that after any repair or modification, the e-bike can be charged and used safely. If this cannot be guaranteed, to refuse to do the work.
  • To supply only safety-tested chargers and batteries from trusted suppliers.
  • To supply only chargers, batteries and other components which are documented to be compatible with each other, and with the e-bike where they will be used.
  • To supply chargers and/or batteries with full safety information and user instructions.

Our hope is that by pledging the above our customers will feel empowered to be e-bike positive, whether that is through owning an e-bike themselves or simply supporting their friends and family to experience the benefits of e-cycling safely.
