About the book:

Shaun McKeown is a Paralympian. He has gained medals at international and world level. Disabilities have been in attendance since birth. They have not stopped him from reaching the top echelons in his chosen sport of cycling. His tale is told in these pages from birth through multiple challenges to a conclusion of peace. Like so many other para sports-people he did not slay his demons, he rode with them; a special form of conquest.
Shaun’s memoir recounts Shaun’s childhood memories and the challenges he had to overcome, such as bullying, allergies and other challenges. He goes on to discuss his transition to adulthood and University, and how he became part of the GB Paralympic cycling team, and winning a silver medal in London 2012. He recounts his ongoing challenges with life-threatening allergies and the difficulty of transitioning back to a more ordinary life when he retired from competitive cycling. The story is authentic, sad in places but captures Shaun’s true grit and determination. Readers of the book have described it as inspiring and a captivating account of bravery in the face of adversity.
