The new 2021 Rockhopper from Specialized is a legend reborn:

For 2021 Specialized has taken two platforms, Pitch and Rockhopper, and consolidated into one superior range under the long established, original Rockhopper name. They have gone all out to redraw the lines and produce a series of mountain bikes focused on performance, but with an eye on great value at all levels.

New Rockhopper features an all-new A1 Premium Alloy frame with butted tubing to save weight, internal cable routing, and precise handling. It has a service friendly threaded bottom bracket and is dropper post compatible, should you plan to tackle more challenging terrain in the future. However, if you spend your time in an urban environment you’ll be pleased to know the frame also comes with stealth rack and kickstand mounts for practicality when you need it.

Specialized have introduced wheel-specific sizing for the new Rockhopper with smaller sizes based around 27.5 in wheels, larger sizes around 29 inch wheels and some overlap in medium. The idea is to offer both best fit and best performance for every rider, by ensuring every Rockhopper is rolling on the best handling wheels for it’s frame size. This now means that the Specialized Pitch and old Rockhopper have now merged into one ultra versatile new platform that’s now available in sizes from XS to XXL.

Within the range there are versatile variations featuring both 1x and 2x drivetrains, Shimano or SRAM components, disc brakes and SR Suntour or RockShox suspension forks to suit all tastes. There are are five levels of specification to cater for all budgets and desired features, starting from £379 for the entry model up to £899 for the Expert.
