If you have even the smallest amount of bike knowledge, you will have heard of Trek Bikes. Trek was founded in 1976 by Dick Burke and Bevil Hogg, after their attempt at opening a chain of bicycle shops ended in failure, and after they realised that as none of the good brands were available to purchase they were going to have to do it themselves.
When the doors to the very first Trek factory (or barn in this case) opened in Waterloo, Wisconsin in 1976, there were just 5 employees on the payroll and in that first year Trek produced 904 touring frames, each handcrafted and hand painted with the upmost care.
In Trek Bikes, the convention that great bikes must only come from Europe was broken. And today though Trek have long since outgrown the barn, their headquarters is only a mile up the road from the original location and each bike is still a testament to Trek’s founding principles.
Read on to find out our top Trek picks for 2022!
