The new 2021 Diverge from Specialized is the ultimate getaway vehicle:
Building on from a great platform, the brand new Diverge from Specialized is their most capable gravel bike yet, built for speed, control and confidence. Whether you’re into the gravel scene, bike packing into the wilderness or ripping flowy singletrack, the Diverge has it covered. It even makes a great multi-surface fast commuter, so if you only have space for one bike in your life – this could be it.
New Future Shock 2.0:
Developed to help the likes of Peter Sagan and Philippe Gilbert win on the cobbles of the Spring Classics, Specialized’s Future Shock technology has proven equally at home on rough roads, thick gravel and chunky dirt. Its adjustable, hydraulically damped travel enhances control and confidence, whilst offering comfort to your hands, arms and shoulders.
New progressive geometry:
Specialized have made a number of key geometry changes compered to the previous Diverge, to deliver more capable and confident off-road handling without losing responsive on-road feel:
Longer and slacker: inspired by the Specialized Epic, a slacker headtube, longer reach and shorter cockpit keeps the Diverge stable so you can stay in control when powering through deep gravel or dirt.
Offset and trail: the Diverge’s new fork has longer offset with traditional trail to ensure all that stability at speed never feels slow at the bars or ‘floppy’ at the front wheel.
Go higher, stay lower: Specialized raised the Diverge’s bottom bracket by 5mm, improving pedalling clearance and making it more nimble, but at 80mm of drop, it’s still among the lowest in gravel for true stability.
The short and long of it: at 425mm, the Diverge’s chain stays keep the wheel tucked under the rider for lively acceleration and nimble handling, while perfectly balancing the bike for ultimate confidence.
Clearance: Tyre clearance is super generous to keep your options open; With 6mm clearance around the tyre you can fit up to 47mm on a 700c wheel or 2.1” on 650B.
Internal SWAT:
Another advance first introduced elsewhere in Specialized’s range, the new Internal SWAT compartment runs the full length of the down tube. This not only frees up your pockets from all your trail essentials, but also helps keep your centre of gravity lower in the bike rather than higher up on you, which ultimately benefits the handling.
Luggage? no problem:
The Diverge comes ready with full rack, mudguard and fork mounts, extra water bottle mounts and top tube mounts to cover all your luggage carrying needs.
