When winter hits, staying as warm and dry as possible becomes essential, and without the right kit almost impossible. Waterproofs, extra layers, winter specific gear – there’s a wide range of kit available, and for the fashion conscious there’s no cooler brand than Fox.

Fox Racing was founded in 1974 by Greg Fox and its roots are founded firmly in the world of motocross. Through sponsoring and working closely with some of the world’s best racers the brand grew to be one of the most recognised and well-respected names in the business and eventually penetrated the MTB market, becoming a firm favourite and household name there too.

The most famous bench in Surrey – well known by the local MTB community as the Pitch Hill viewpoint.

This year Fox released some exciting new products, including the affordable Mainframe Helmet, and the Ranger 3L Water Jacket, offering advanced weather protection and fully taped seams/waterproof zippers. Fox kindly sent us some samples (along with the 3L Water Pant and Ranger Fire Gloves), so we took to the Surrey Hills with local rider and racer Nick Platt to test the products and shoot some fresh content! Ironically, the day we were able to shoot turned out to be in the driest period we’ve had this winter so far so you won’t see much mud flying around, but we hope you enjoy nonetheless.

The Fox Mainframe Helmet is now the entry level price point for Fox’s fantastic range of MTB helmets. But don’t let the price tag (£79.00 RRP) fool you – this is a fantastic bit of kit that strongly contends with it’s higher priced counterparts. And the added bonus of the MIPS system for that extra level of protection makes the Fox Mainframe helmet absolutely incredible value.

Surrey Locals – can you recognise this Peaslake classic just from this one corner?

The 3L Water Jacket is Fox’s AW21 pièce de résistance. As we know, if you don’t ride in the wet in the UK, you probably won’t ride much at all so having the right kit is essential. Fox have nailed it here. Advanced weather protection including fully taped seams and waterproof zippers prevent water getting through and the 3-layer breathable, waterproof fabric prevents moisture from building up inside (no-one loves that boil-in-a-bag feeling).

The Specialized Kenevo just eats up the trail!

No winter kit bag (and to be honest a UK kit bag in general), would be complete without a set of waterproof shorts or trousers. The Fox Ranger 3L Water Pant again avoids that boil-in-a-bag feeling while providing a fantastic fully seam-sealed, waterproof and windproof trouser.

Roots, roots and more roots! This section has been well ridden over the years.

The Fox Ranger Fire Gloves are also worth a mention, though at the time of writing we are extremely low on stock as they’ve proven rather popular! These are brilliant winter gloves that are guaranteed to help keep your hands warm and dry. For the full range of Fox gloves please click here.
