The new 3rd generation Stages Systems have been further refined with improvements in the hardware and software to bring a step change in accuracy, reliability and precision. Improved radio transmission, Bluetooth and ANT+ has resulted in close to a 6-fold improvement in signal strength while an upgraded accelerometer with the inclusion of a gyroscope has yielded faster sampling and a future method of cadence-force profile upgrading for further refined data and improved precision. A key development in strain gauge resolution has resulted in accuracy improvements with measurements now just ± 1.5% (vs the old 2%).
Active temperature compensation and IPX7 waterproofing mean that whatever the conditions, you will have reliable data from cadences between 20 and 220rpm and to powers of upto 2500 watts.
For those who have experienced power spiking in previous models, Stages have introduced a Hall Effect Sensor - the ability to use a magnet for Cadence detection. This HES is available in all new models. In addition to the major changes, Stages have also simplified their firmware architecture to help eliminate bugs in firmware and a new NFC - 'Touch-to-Pair' feature is imminent that will make pairing with Stages' Dash Head Unit simpler.
