Developed from the ground up for a wide range of tapered and oversized headtubes, the Chris King InSet 2 headset combines maximal durability, silky-smoothness and unrivalled longevity with a phenomenal service life. Handcrafted in the USA, this is the go-to headset for those running zero stack, mixed zero stack or an external cup set up.
Perfectly primed for peak performance whilst also sturdy enough to outlast the bike it is fitted to, this is a remarkable feat of engineering. The meticulous care and attention invested into the production of each InSet reflects Chris King’s lasting commitment to quality and environmentally conscious manufacturing.
Every single InSet is engineered, manufactured and assembled in-house at Chris King’s HQ in Portland, Oregon. Fully serviceable and with a 10-year warranty, this is an elite performance product built to last.
Performance and Engineering
Chris King’s legendary bearings and heat-treated, surgical-grade steel races form a perfectly integrated system that becomes smoother as they burnish with use, wearing in rather than wearing out. Chris King maintains complete control over every aspect of production, manufacturing bearings in-house to a specification that would not be achieved otherwise.
The innovative GripLock retention system isolates forces normally exerted on the steerer tube, protecting it from fatigue and wear. Because the preload is set independently from the steerer tube, it can be matched to precise torque specifications. This system also reduces the chance of the headset coming out of adjustment, even after repeated heavy braking and big hit riding, making it a solid choice for protecting frames, particularly carbon and non-standard material constructions.
