The FOX Float X Live Valve Neo Rear Shock provides wireless suspension control, helping riders move faster in every situation, whether climbing, traversing, or descending. When commanded by the sensors, the shock switches between Open and Firm positions in as little as 1/70th of a second. This rapid response eliminates the need for a middle-ground pedal mode, ensuring full support in Firm mode when required and the plushness of Open mode when desired.
Three elements achieve this speed advantage: sensors only transmit necessary information, the system communicates commands from sensors to the controller in as little as one millisecond, and a 2-position magnetic latching solenoid opens or firms the compression circuit significantly faster than a motor while remaining virtually silent. This efficiency is critical in trail and enduro riding, where transitions between sections can be abrupt. By defaulting to Firm mode even when descending, riders gain performance advantages without sacrificing comfort or control.
The system is fully supported by the FOX Bike app, which includes setup guides and useful functions. The Garage feature allows users to store profiles for multiple mountain bikes and view component connection status and battery levels. The Components section monitors Neo hardware, ensures batteries are charged, and provides access to firmware updates, Shake to Wake functionality, and Bump LED Indication. The Service tab tracks ride hours based on accelerometer data against recommended service intervals, provides service pricing, and helps locate nearby service centres.
The ultra-fast switch between modes allows riders to maintain momentum and speed in various scenarios. When pumping out of corners, the shock may open briefly to maintain traction before firming up for exit speed. When getting airborne, the controller detects the jump and opens the shock to absorb the landing. On technical climbs, the shock opens to absorb impacts before firming up for power. For eMTB riders, the system absorbs higher impacts on climbs while the Firm mode creates a dedicated pedalling platform.
