Cold and wet training rides do not have to be miserable. The Lake CX146 is designed for chilly road rides in autumn or spring, providing the ideal solution for days when standard race shoes are not warm enough.
Sizing Suggestion: For use with winter weight socks, it is recommended to order 1-1.5 sizes up from your usual Lake cycling shoe size.
Design and Performance
The CX146 is built on the CX/TX Sport last, which is designed for higher cadence and longer ride times. This last provides excellent foot control to avoid hot-spots and numbness, featuring a closer fit that cradles the foot securely to prevent unwanted movement. It includes a precisely fitted toe-box, high arch, and mid-width ball girth.
The upper is constructed from softshell fabric, water-resistant microfiber, and Thinsulate 200gr insulation, featuring a waterproof membrane for high water resistance. Clarino microfiber is used for durability and suppleness, offering a significant weight reduction compared to leather.
Closure and Outsole
The BOA Fit System M4 dial is specifically built for use with gloves in freezing temperatures, resisting sand, mud, and ice. Combined with the Click-Fit quick release, the system allows for easy entry and exit.
The Road Sport Fiberglass injected nylon outsole is compatible with 3-bolt style road cleat and pedal systems. This sole is engineered for a balance of stiffness and comfort.
Water Resistance and Care
The uppers are treated with a durable water-resistant (DWR) coating. It is recommended to reapply a DWR spray 1-2 times a year for moderate riders and every 2-3 wet rides for daily riders. While highly water-resistant, the shoes are not fully waterproof and some water ingress may occur in prolonged heavy rain.
