The Hope Tech 4 V4 builds on over 25 years of experience in designing and manufacturing hydraulic brake systems. The system features all-new internal sealing for reduced friction, while the pivot spins on roller bearings, allowing the spring rate to be reduced. This lower spring rate provides a lighter lever action, reducing rider fatigue while maintaining the brand's legendary feel and modulation.
The updated V4 caliper utilises hybrid-style stainless steel pistons with a phenolic insert. This design allows for smoother movement and requires less maintenance, while effectively managing high temperatures during extreme use. The system offers a 30% pressure increase compared to the Tech 3 brake, with an updated lever shape that provides an ergonomic profile for the best mechanical advantage during braking.
A hinged clamp reduces weight and improves ergonomics, while the reservoir area has been increased to lower the overall stack height. The system retains tool-free bite point and reach adjustments. Shifter integration has been improved, now offering 30° of angle adjustment, neater packaging, and compatibility with the latest shifters. All brakes are supplied with new racing compound pads, designed to offer impressive performance straight out of the box with little bedding in required.
Compatibility and Notes
The V4 caliper is not compatible with all direct mount 180mm forks due to the large piston design and variation in mount positions. It is recommended to use the correct mount and a 200mm rotor in this application. Additionally, the V4 caliper is not compatible with the 2021 Commencal Supreme DH frame 200mm Direct Postmount. The maximum rotor thickness for the V4 caliper is 3.3mm.
