The 303 SW's 40mm deep rim design takes design cues from the gravel-specific 303 XPLR to utilize a wide rim design for high aero efficiency and low rolling resistance on a wide tyre platform designed for modern riding at lower tyre pressures. The rim's profile provides low drag and an improved transition between rim and tyre, boosting aerodynamic efficiency with wider tyres. The wide-rim stance also features less tyre deflection for reduced rolling resistance. Combining the wider tyre, increased tyre volume, and lower tyre pressure helps reduce rider fatigue by smoothing out the ride over imperfect pavement and road conditions—the tyre and wheel system absorbs the shaking, not the rider.
A revised carbon layup and design also infused the already bombproof 303 SW with an almost 10 percent improvement in impact strength at a light weight. The 303 SW is optimized for tyres 30 to 35mm in width. The 303 SW rims feature a refined shape that helps shield the tyre in an impact that would otherwise cause a pinch flat. At the center of this is the ZR1 hubset, which now has stainless steel bearings for improved durability and smoother performance.
