Helmet Purchasing Advice:
- Measure your child's head first: Measure the head circumference around 2cm above the eyebrows. The J1 KinetiCore is designed to fit head sizes from 50–56cm.
- Best fit in the middle of the range: Children with head measurements around 52–54cm will generally achieve the most balanced fit. Those close to 50cm or 56cm may find the fit less precise than a helmet offered in multiple sizes.
- Head shape matters: While the Advanced TurnSys fit system accommodates a wide range of head shapes, children with particularly round or narrow/oval heads may find another helmet shape provides a better fit.
- Position the helmet correctly: The helmet should sit level on the head, covering the forehead with the front edge positioned around one to two finger widths above the eyebrows. It should not tilt backwards.
- Adjust the TurnSys dial: Tighten the rear dial until the helmet feels snug and stays in place when your child gently shakes their head, without creating pressure points.
- Check the straps: The side straps should form a "V" just below each ear, and the chin strap should be snug enough that one or two fingers fit comfortably between the strap and the chin.
- Integrated visor: The visor is built into the helmet and cannot be adjusted or removed, so ensure your child is happy with its coverage.
Children grow quickly, but avoid buying a helmet that's significantly too large to "grow into." A properly fitted helmet offers the best protection, and the adjustment system is designed to fine-tune the fit—not compensate for an oversized helmet.
