The Stages SB200 Smart Bike is designed to recreate more of the physics, movement and control of riding outdoors within an indoor training environment. Building on the original SB20, the SB200 combines a high-inertia two-stage drive system with a chassis engineered to move naturally beneath the rider.
Its two-stage drive uses a 25:1 gear ratio to generate high inertia for a smooth and quiet ride feel. An electromagnetic brake delivers 400 watts of resistance at 40 RPM and more than 1,500 watts at 120 RPM, while the system is designed to handle rider outputs of up to 2,500 watts. Together, the drive and braking systems are engineered to reproduce the sensations of acceleration, climbing and sprinting.
Rather than fixing the bike completely rigidly to the floor, the SB200 uses stabilisers positioned to mirror the front and rear tyre contact points of an outdoor bicycle. This allows controlled chassis movement beneath the rider, while interchangeable foot pads let you choose between a more compliant or more stable feel.
Integrated shifters and brake levers bring familiar cycling controls to virtual riding, complemented by 10 independently programmable buttons for functions including navigation, workout control and steering. Ride data and control inputs are communicated over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with direct native functionality available for Zwift, TrainingPeaks Virtual, Rouvy and MyWhoosh.
A wide adjustment range accommodates riders from 4ft 10in to 6ft 10in, while adjustable 165–175mm crank lengths and standard pedal and saddle interfaces make it easy to tailor the SB200 to the rider. An integrated tablet, phone and head-unit mount, two USB-C charging ports and cable storage complete a setup designed for dedicated training spaces or use elsewhere in the home.
